December 4th, 2008

Digital printing has made it easier for business owners and professionals to be able to market out their products and services at more affordable mediums.

Here are some basic rules that one should follow. Market research should be conducted in order to determine that one has the right list of clients, omitting those who have been unresponsive for some time. Most of the people on the list have shown interest or sought your company out for the kinds of services you provide.

You need to have the right materials and this depends on the mediums you wish to place your promotions. Check your own resources before committing to anything. Planning ahead is a must when it comes to marketing and this includes checking out the materials that your competitors are using. Advertising must be done periodically and it is important to remain visible in your target market’s eyes. Following these pointers will enable you to proceed with your digital printing project.

Brochures No Longer Fashionable?

December 2nd, 2008

Various business owners have opted to employ the use of brochures because of the increasing demand for effective marketing tools. Brochures, single sheet documents, are commonly printed in one or two colors or in a full four color printing process. Sizes range from the considered standard 8 ½ x 11, 8 ½ x 14 for the legal page size and then 11 x 17.

Brochures usually contain relevant information about the company and its offered products and services which it is of great importance to have proper planning especially in conceptualizing the brochure design. The brochure must be presented in the most professional way possible because it will act as the representative of the company. There are certain factors to consider in terms of the printing cost to be incurred, like how many brochures you want, the number of people to distribute the brochures and the quality of them.

Thanks to the onset of digital printing, there comes with it digital short-run printing which is very flexible as it can print any volume of print projects. Also, some digital printing companies offer discount prices for bulk orders which is good for big volumes of brochures. Brochures can be mailed but this can be very costly. However, there are printing and mailing companies that offer discounted prices for bulk prints and mails.

The Boom of the Digital Press Market

November 30th, 2008

Printers are no longer afraid of digital color presses because the machines themselves have been improving in quality, color fidelity, and reliability. Printers have established reasonable levels of expectation for their output, with more clearly targeted applications and a sense of how to integrate them into hybrid premedia workflows.

In Bellmawr, New Jersey, Evergreen Printing has ordered a 5,000 sheet-per-hour Kodak NexPress S2500 digital color press. The commercial publication printer does heatset and non-heatset printing and mailing for businesses as well as magazine and newspaper publishers. Evergreen still retains their core business of providing print and distribution services for newspapers, magazines, and trade publications.

Toledo, Ohio-based Metzger Printing and Mailing ordered a Xerox iGen4 digital color press at Graph Expo. It is the first iGen4 in North America and the first anywhere with integrated, inline saddlestitcher. Metzger will use it for education clients where they see demand for personalized college recruiting materials quadrupling. They will also use the iGen4 for travel and photo book work. They expect it to print 500,000 pages monthly within six months. The iGen4 will also get projects out the door within eight hours and free up resources for Metzger in order to handle more jobs and increase revenue.

Xerox’s More Energy Efficient Digital Printing

November 21st, 2008

The arrival of six 25,000 gallon tanks at the Xerox plant in Webster, New York will herald an era of more energy efficient digital printing. It is in preparation for the production of Ultra Low-Melt EA Toner, a breakthrough product that cuts overall power consumption of digital printing devices by 15 to 30%.

The most power-intensive process in printers and multifunction devices is fusing the toner or sealing it on the page, accounting for 50 to 80% of the total power used. With the development of the Ultra Low-Melt EA Toner, scientists at Xerox Research Centre of Canada aimed to save energy by lowering the fusing temperature. The new toner melts as much as 45 degrees Fahrenheit lower temperature than the EA toner now being used in current Xerox products, without compromising image quality or any other performance.

Scientists at Xerox initially developed the EA process and the Ultra Low-Melt EA Toner is their next generation product. Pages printed with EA toner use 40 to 50% less material than those printed with older style toner. In collaboration with colleagues at Fuji Xerox, scientists and engineers at Xerox designed and tested many polymers before discovering polyesters that could be combined with other toner ingredients such as color pigments and wax particles to form the Ultra Low-Melt EA Toner.
