Mailings Unlimited Purchases a Kodak NexPress 2500

July 23rd, 2008

Founding partners Jon Webel and Paul Rogers launched Mailings Unlimited seven years ago in Portland, Maine with the goal of delivering a full suite of truly digital direct mail services to a national client base. They wanted to be a one stop shop for their clients’ printing and mailing needs.

Mailings Unlimited has taken its services to the next level with the addition of a Kodak NexPress 2500 Digital Production Color Press that will allow them to offer everything from list rental and internal data management to digital printing and integrated lead tracking. The NexPress 2500 Press supports a wide range of substrates and this has enabled Mailings Unlimited to dramatically reduce its postcard, direct mail, and brochure turnaround time while enhancing several overall print quality.

The NexPress joins existing high speed monochrome print devices and represents the first time the company is able to offer fully variable color products in high volume at production speeds. Mailings Unlimited handles a wide range of projects and has worked hard to educate its customers on the value of variable data printing in direct mail. The company sells its services directly to retailers, brand owners and other marketers but also aligns with ad agencies and marketing services firms.

Digital Printing Centre and the Heidelberg Speedmaster

July 19th, 2008

The Digital Print Center (DPC) started operating in Lebanon over a decade ago as a provider of digital printing services primarily in producing scratch cards for various mobile operators around the world. Now, DPC has decided to grow and diversify its product offering a portfolio.

DPC has invested in a brand new Heidelberg Speedmaster CD 74-6LX2. With the addition of the FoilStar module, the new printing press will transform DPC into a unique print shop combining both traditional and digital printing. The new Speedmaster supports a wide range of printing materials and thicknesses of up to 0.8mm. The configuration of this machine offers sheet guidance with Air Transfer system, rapid-response inking units and short setup times made possible by extensive automation.

The FoilStar module applies cold foil on the fly and enables high-quality metallic coatings on a wide range of printing stock. Up to six various foils in a range of web widths can be used, thereby enabling huge savings on jobs that require only a small amount of foil. This development enhances the finishing options available for label, packaging and commercial printers.

The Bureau Chooses Kodak Insite Storefront for one Complete Solution

July 16th, 2008

The Bureau of Engraving Inc. in Minneapolis required a versatile Web to print system that could accommodate a mix of customers that need the speed, print quality and short run convenience of digital printing and long runs associated with traditional offset. The Bureau chose the Kodak Insite Storefront system to take them from their traditional sales model to online ordering and job tracking with one complete solution.

The Kodak Insite Storefront system offers everything that printing companies need to support online ordering. It has the capability to handle new orders or reorders of existing material and provides catalogues from which customers can order books and manuals, business identification products, and collateral. The Storefront system can be customized with the company’s corporate branding and a flexible pricing engine; provides several types of online payment options; is localized in 15 languages; and can support 177 currencies in 228 countries.

The Web to file output applications offered by other manufacturers still requires human intervention to print the job. The Bureau was interested in automating all of the steps, from Web to output device. Insite Storefront’s ability to use a Web to print application with the Bureau’s offset presses as well as its digital printing operation made it the right choice.
