Kodak Unveils New Nexpress Dimensional Printing Applications

November 5th, 2008

Kodak Nexpress Digital Production Color Presses are designed to revitalize and elevate the services offered by print providers and drive additional volume for new revenue opportunities and enhanced profit potential, and enable an almost limitless range of applications that include marketing collateral, direct mail, statements, photo products, and packaging.

With this Digital Production Color Press, the print provider keeps high value work in-house instead of outsourcing it, which not only drives page volume with new applications, but also yields an improved bottom line. A significant advantage offered by the Nexpress Digital Production Color Presses is the Kodak Nexpress Fifth Imaging Unit Solutions. It has powerful in-line capability that helps extend the application reach and flexibility of print providers by allowing them to offer new colors, finishes and printing effects. This is more and more important as print clients look for ways to distinguish their offerings in very competitive environments.

Kodak Dimensional Printing offers a raised or tactile printing effect that provides images with a dimensional feel that mimics the surface of the items in a photograph. This unique capability is only available on Kodak Nexpress Digital Production Color Presses and helps providers stand out from their competition with innovative solutions. The addition of the Nexpress Dimensional Clear Dry Ink places raised text of graphics on any project.

Xeikon is a division of Punch Graphix and legendary for pioneering the first digital color presses. They recently launched the Xeikon 3000, its latest digital label press. It joins the Xeikon 3300 and completes the company’s product portfolio for the label and packaging industry.

The Xeikon 3300 represents a massive leap in label print quality by offering true 1200 dpi at four bits per spot. It has a top speed of 63 feet per minute and is an extremely fast digital color label press, particularly suited for short to medium print runs and just-in-time jobs. The Xeikon 3000 represents the entry-level counterpart of the Xeikon 3300. It is also a perfect press for label converters wanting to focus on niche applications like paperboard packaging or textile transfer printing.

The Xeikon 3000 has a top speed of 31.5 feet per minute and allows label converters to master digital printing at a more leisurely pace. The 3000 can also be upgraded to the Xeikon 3300 once the user is ready for the next level. The Xeikon 3000 is identical to the 3300 in imaging quality, format flexibility of substrates or substrate weight flexibility. Both presses can also print the four process colors and a range of standard or custom spot colors.
