The ABCs of Digital Printing

November 14th, 2008 by John

Digital technology has made the printing industry easier to handle and lowered printing costs considerably. Digital printing is the process of printing wherein digital prints are printed in a faster time without sacrificing its high quality. The long and traditional way of printing has become shorter and more convenient.

Digital printing lessens the printing time and also provides a more affordable printing price. Digital printing allows for faster turn around times and its flow is much shorter than the one of offset printing. For example, to have pictures printed from a digital camera, one only has to transfer the images to a computer that is attached to a digital printer. One can make any necessary adjustments to the image with the computer prior to printing them.

One advantage of digital printing is the ability to explore more and maximize the colors that are available to use. Offset printing only mixes and matches four colors to come up with the other colors and so some of them might not be accurate. With digital printing, one can expect a precise print, especially when it comes to the color and details. However, digital printing fades faster compared to offset printing if not handled well.
