The fastest growing charity in the UK has been joined on its committee by managing director of Poynton digital printing company Everydayprint, Jason Walker.

Walker will serve on the committee of the Manchester and Cheshire region of rugby’s Wooden Spoon charity. Having raised GBP2,000 for the charity by donating 10 per cent of the revenue from Everydayprint’s 2006 Christmas card orders from customers, rugby fanatic Walker commented: ‘I had wanted to show my support for the charity for some time and having found out more about the excellent work everybody does around the country, it was a pleasure to get involved.

However, to have subsequently been invited to join the committee represents a wonderful honour for me and I now hope to bring enthusiasm and creativity to what is already an excellent team of talented and dedicated individuals.’ Charlie Womersly, Wooden Spoon chairman in the Manchester and Cheshire, added: ‘We have had an extremely successful first year with a uniform committee, raising over GBP30,000, all of which will be used in our region to improve the lives of disadvantaged children.

However, as a charity, it is important that we always strive to improve by bringing in enthusiastic people who are prepared to work hard and open up new avenues for us.’ He continued: ‘Jason has already demonstrated his commitment to the cause and we believe that his expertise and standing in the regional business community will see him play an integral part as we look to raise the profile of the Manchester and Cheshire arm of the charity.’ Established in 1993, Wooden Spoon has a presence in 43 UK regions and has raised over GBP11million for mentally, physically and socially disadvantaged children.
